Exhaust air purification system for the reduction of odor emissions
Treated media: Air
Flow rate: 2.000 m3/h
Substances: Odors
Processes: UV oxidation
Commissioning: 2012
KF Company: uviblox GmbH
Cause
The production of spice mixtures by the company Unilever Deutschland in Heilbronn generates various odour emissions with a concentration of about 1.1 million GE/m³, which strongly annoy employees and residents. uviblox GmbH (formerly IBL Umwelt- und Biotechnik GmbH) was commissioned to design and build a new plant that achieves an olfactory purification level of at least 90 %. The UV oxidation process used successfully eliminates the various organic compounds responsible for the odour and thus the odor nuisance.
Exhaust air purification system uviblox® FOX
The resulting exhaust air flows of approx. 2,000 m³/h with odour emissions of 1.1 million GE/m³ are continuously extracted from the partial pipe run by means of an existing on-site collecting fan. In the first step, liquid droplets and aerosols are separated at the condensate separator. Then solids are separated at two filter stages with different filter classes. The exhaust air to be irradiated is passed through the UV reactor with a dwell time of a few seconds. In the process, it flows through the treatment section along several special UV lamps with high efficiency arranged in the UV reactor. The purified exhaust air is conveyed to the chimney by the on-site exhaust fan.
The UV photo-oxidation system consists of a compact system housing and was housed in a container with the associated switch and control unit. The cleaning efficiency is over 90 %.
