Sudbury WWTP in the North of Ontario is surrounded by swampy soils, limiting the expansion of the plant. The Neutralox system handling the odors from headworks and inlet pump station fits just between two buildings.
The Neutralox technology is also an ideal fit for Sudbury, considering the low ambient temperatures at winter time. During start-up, the temperature was down to -40°F. The Neutralox system however, is not affected by cold or warm temperatures and accepts also low or high air humidity.
The Neutralox system consists of four treatment units connected in parallel. At winter time, when the odor concentrations are low, the client would take one or two of the treatment units offline.
