Commissioning: 2015
KF Company: Bremer pro aqua GmbH
Cause
swb Netze Bremerhaven GmbH & Co. KG operates the Bexhövede waterworks to supply drinking and service water to the southern supply area of the city of Bremerhaven. The waterworks was commissioned back in 1893 and was last extended in 1967/68. The waterworks is now in need of considerable refurbishment with regard to the plant technology. Based on risk analyses and optimization studies, the waterworks will be completely rebuilt on the site next to the existing waterworks.
Process
The Bexhövede waterworks is designed for an annual pure water treatment volume of 4.8 million m³/a. The raw water is pumped from 2 well fields to the Bexhövede waterworks. The Bexhövede well field supplies 3.8 million m³/a and the Ahnthammsmoor well field supplies 1.0 million m³/a. The maximum treatment capacity is set at 16,000 m³/d or 705 m³/h. The minimum treatment capacity is 300 m³/h.
The raw water is pumped underground to the Bexhövede waterworks, where it is aerated in cascades in the first stage. After the cascades, the aerated raw water is pumped by intermediate pumps through the filter tanks, pre- and post-filters to the clean water tank. Deferrization takes place in the pre-filters and demanganization in the post-filters. In the secondary filters, the filtrate from the pre-filters is additionally aerated once more. The water then flows from the secondary filters into the two pure water tanks, each with a storage volume of 2,000 m³.
